Achieving a sustainable and accountable security sector
The Mission supports Serbia in achieving a sustainable and accountable security sector, able to address national and transnational crimes and threats, ensure public safety and protect the human rights of its citizens.

Democratization
Strengthening democratic processes
The Mission strengthens democratic processes by partnering with various stakeholders, such as public institutions and civil society. Activities include legislative oversight, combating discrimination, public administration reform, security sector governance and reform, rights of persons belonging to national minorities, and the promotion of inter-culturalism and respect of cultural diversity.
The seventh national conference of Serbia's Women Parliamentary Network, a cross-party network of women parliamentarians, gathered some 300 women MPs, local councilors & national minority councils representatives at a joint session, Belgrade, 14 December 2019.

Media
Supporting the development of a regulatory framework and safe media environment
The Mission supports developing a regulatory framework and media environment for safe, timely and objective public information. This includes assisting institutions with policies, protecting journalists, promoting ethical journalism, and fostering media freedom and diversity.

Rule of law and human rights
Promoting an independent, accountable and efficient judiciary and human rights-based justice system
The Mission promotes an independent, autonomous, transparent and professional judiciary, and human rights-based criminal justice and administrative justice. It builds merit-based appointment systems, strengthens anti-corruption mechanisms, and improves access to justice through training and civil society engagement.
The OSCE Action against Terrorism Unit works to build capacity among participating States to investigate, prosecute and punish terrorist crimes within a human rights framework.
Environmental activities
Developing a sustainable partnership between the authorities and civil society on environmental issues
The Mission works to strengthen institutional capacities for enforcing environmental legislation, while fostering sustainable partnerships between authorities and civil society to advance inclusive, transparent and climate-resilient environmental governance in Serbia.
Cross-dimensional activities
Mainstreaming gender equality and bolstering the skills of young people
The Mission supports gender equality, inclusive youth policies and regional connectivity among young people. It also raises awareness about OSCE commitments and helps prevent violent extremism.
OSCE Mission to Serbia has been supporting Serbia's Cybersecurity Network Foundation in organizing the national cybersecurity competition for youth as part of its commitment to engaging youth with cybersecurity topics and empowering young girls to challenge the stereotype that cybersecurity is a profession reserved for men, Belgrade, 15 May 2024
