OSCE Mission helps strengthen crime scene investigation in Serbia

NIS, 29 September 2005 - In order to strengthen the capacities of the Serbian Ministry of Interior in crime scene investigation and evidence analysis, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro will tomorrow hand over forensics equipment to the Ministry in Nis.

The equipment, funded by the Government of Norway, is part of a project, which also includes training, to ensure a high quality of police service in south Serbia, to produce credible evidence for use in court proceedings, and to contribute to the fairness and objectivity of trials.

Serbian Minister of Interior, Mr. Dragan Jocic, as well as the Ambassador of Norway to Serbia and Montenegro, Hans Ola Urstad, and the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, will speak at the event.

Media representatives are invited to attend the ceremony at 13.00 on Friday, 30 September, at the Police Secretariat in Nis, Nade Tomic Street, no. 14.
