Policing

The Mission runs a variety of programmes to assist Serbia in its police reform process and support its national strategies and priorities. The Mission also supports the host country in developing a community-oriented police service and advancing of professional standards and reform of the policing sector.

Overview

The Mission's activities include combating organized crime, particularly economic crime, corruption, human smuggling, as well as addressing cyber security threats, environmental crime and preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization. It also helps the police improve professional standards and adherence to international standards, while promoting inclusiveness through greater representation of national minorities and women in the police service, and by strengthening accountability and transparency in police work. In addition, the Mission provides expertise and assistance to the authorities to integrate sustainable quality standards into the police training curricula. To increase mutual trust and confidence in the police service, the Mission furthers the development of community-policing principles and works to strengthening the partnership between the police and the public.

The OSCE Mission to Serbia offers courses and learning resources to support practitioners and other interested audiences in the OSCE participating States.
