2025 Activity Report of the Permanent Working Group for Safety of Journalists

The aim of the 2025 Report on the activities of the Permanent Working Group for Safety of Journalists (PWG), as envisaged by its Action Plan 2023-2025 and its Rulebook, is to raise public awareness on authoritative data and analysis on addressing attacks against journalists. The Report is jointly drafted by the PWG representatives, the OSCE Mission, the representatives of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office and the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia.   

According to data from the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, the number of cases related to acts against journalists increased by 106.15% - from 65 in 2024 to 134 in 2025. The number of physical assaults against journalists increased by 366.67% - from six in 2024 to 28 in 2025. The OSCE Mission to Serbia supported drafting and publishing of four reports of the PWG, published in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
